Beannachtaí na féile Bhríde oraibh! 🙏✨

St. Brigid’s blessings on you all 😇

This design features symbols associated with Brigid.

Three types of St. Brigid crosses: woven on the eve of St Brigid’s day and left outside the house to be blessed. It is said that if you hang one of these crosses in your home, Brigid will protect your house from fire. This design features the three legged cross, the 12 rushes weaved cross, plus the arguably most well know four legged cross.

The flames: Brigid is associated with light and fire. Her monastery in Kildare kept a flame going for centuries until it was extinguished during the reign of Henry VIII.

The acorn and oak leaves: Brigid is the patron saint of Kildare and the county’s name actually comes from her. ‘Cill Dara’ meaning ‘church of the oak’ in Irish comes from the original material of which she built her church.

The ribbon (or brat bhríde): On the eve of St. Brigid’s day, it is tradition to leave out a piece of fabric, ribbon, or scarf for Brigid to bless and then can be used for it’s healing properties. These ‘brats’ are also often found adorning trees and bushes near the saint’s holy wells.

The flowers, lamb, and bunny: St. Brigid is known for bringing the Spring and what says Spring more than cute baby animals and fresh blossoming flowers, plants and trees.

This bag is thick woven tote of organic cotton, 80% of which is recycled. It measures 43 x 26 cm and features the ‘Beannachtaí’ design screen printed on the front.

Please note: the product photos are a mock up and colours may very slightly in person.
